Two Trains Strike, Kill Pedestrian Near Princeton Junction Station

NJ Transit Police and Mercer County officials are currently investigating a fatal train strike that occurred today on the tracks near Princeton Junction Station.AdOfficials said incident involved a pedestrian who was struck by two trains, resulting in fatal injuries.

At approximately 9:26 a.m., Northeast Corridor train 3825, which had departed Penn Station New York at 8:12 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Trenton at 9:48 a.m., struck a pedestrian just west of Princeton Junction.

Shortly after, an Amtrak train traveling through the same area also struck the individual. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortunately, none of the 180 passengers and crew members aboard NJ Transit train 3825 were injured during the incident.

Following the accident, Northeast Corridor train service was suspended in both directions between Princeton Junction and Trenton, though service has since resumed.AdLocal law enforcement is leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
