Newark police are currently investigating the motive behind a shooting that left one man injured on Friday evening, August 9.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:32 p.m. on the 200 block of North 9th Street, according to Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.
Responding officers found a man who had been shot at the scene. The victim was transported to University Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Police have detained an adult male suspect and recovered a weapon in the vicinity.
The circumstances and motive behind the shooting are still under investigation.
