Authorities in Newark are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday evening, leaving one person injured.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, approached a unit from Newark's 5th Precinct in the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue to report the incident around 6:30 pm.
Emergency Medical Services were immediately notified and transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment.
The victim is expected to recover from the injuries sustained.
Following the incident, Newark's Shooting Response Team was notified and has since joined the ongoing investigation.
As of now, no motive has been established, and no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the shooting.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover further details and urge anyone with information to come forward.
