Police arrested an Irvington woman today after anonymous tips identified her as the person wanted in connection to the theft of a charity jar containing $300.
On May 17, Laura Grune, 48, of Irvington was caught on the Hot Bagels Abroad & Deli' surveillance camera as she took the jar from the counter. The donation jar which had approximately $300.00 in dollars and coins for patients of RETT syndrome, a rare postnatal disorder that affects the gray matter of the brain.
Grune was arrested around 1 p.m. today at her home and consequently charged with theft, according to police. Grune later posted 10 percent of her $2,500 bond.
No charges have been filed against Grune for a similar theft of a tip jar at a Chinese restaurant in Union which she is believed to be responsible for.
