Newark police responded to a distressing incident on Monday involving a woman wielding a knife on an occupied NJ Transit bus.Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé reported that the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on the #25 bus at the intersection of Broad Street and Market Street.
Officers arriving on the scene observed the suspect, a woman aimlessly swinging a knife, causing alarm among the passengers.
Upon determining that the individual was emotionally disturbed, police contacted the Rutgers Crisis Intervention Team. The suspect was subsequently transported to University Hospital for evaluation.
No injuries were reported during the incident, and authorities praised the swift and coordinated response that ensured the safety of all passengers.
