A man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning following reports of gunfire in Paterson.Police were alerted to the incident around 2:45 a.m. on Ryle Road, where they discovered shell casings and a suspect matching the description of an individual believed to be involved in the shooting.
Upon arrival, officers utilized information provided by a ShotSpotter device, which had detected the gunfire, aiding them in quickly locating the scene.
A firearm was confiscated during the investigation, and the male suspect was detained without further incident.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in connection with the shooting.
The motive behind the gunfire remains unclear, and it is not known if there was a specific target involved. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
