The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating a violent crash that claimed the life of a person in Newark’s East Ward early Sunday morning.
Preliminary information indicates that shortly before 2 a.m., police were dispatched to reports of a crash near 96 Delancy Street in the Ironbound section.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a severely injured, unconscious, and unresponsive individual.
Despite their efforts, the unidentified person was pronounced dead shortly after the crash, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials stated that the investigation into the cause of the wreck is in its early stages.
No additional injuries were reported.
