Authorities in Union County announced that an incarcerated Elizabeth man is being charged with the Explicit Contact of an additional juvenile female.

Union County Prosecutor William Daniel stated Ivan Calderon, 62, of Elizabeth, has been issued an additional charge of second-degree Explicit Contact as a result of a fourth victim coming forward to file a complaint against the defendant.

In July of 2024, officials said, Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit Detectives received information regarding the Explicit Contact of a juvenile female that took place in 2004.

The victim was less than 13 years old when the assault took place, officials stated.

In early January of 2022, officials say, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received a report of a sexual assault of a juvenile female.

Authorities say that the investigation revealed that the alleged episodes occurred from 2005 through 2015, according to Assistant Prosecutor Kathleen Dillon, who is prosecuting the case.

As the investigation progressed, detectives learned of the identity of two additional victims, both juveniles at the time, who the defendant repeatedly had Explicit Contact with between the years of 2003 and 2009, according to officials.

All three victims were less than 13 years old during the duration of these crimes, Dillon said.

Officials said. Calderon was arrested in late January 2022 and was lodged in the Union County Jail after being charged with Explicit Contact of the first victim.

As a result of the Special Victims Unit's continuing investigation, officials say, he was subsequently charged with the Explicit Contact of the additional two females in March 2022.

At that time, officials stated, Calderon was charged with one count of first-degree aggravated Explicit Contact, three counts of second-degree Explicit Contact, two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree aggravated criminal explicit contact and one count of fourth-degree criminal explicit contact.

This investigation remains ongoing, authorities say.
