UPDATE: NJ Man Sentenced for Assaulting an Employee The Night Before Thanksgiving in 2022

Authorities in Somerset County announced that on July 1, defendant Yahmir Brown, 19, of Franklin Township was sentenced by the Honorable Peter J. Tober, P.J.Cr. to a term of five years in New Jersey State Prison, 85% of which is to be served without eligibility for parole, on the charge of second-degree Aggravated Assault.

Following a week-long trial, a Somerset County jury returned a guilty verdict on the charge on May 10, 2024, officials stated.

Officials said defendant Brown was charged, along with a juvenile co-defendant, with assaulting the employee of a local business the night before Thanksgiving in 2022.

The victim sustained multiple facial fractures because of the incident, which was the subject of a joint investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Franklin Township Police Department, according to officials.

During the trial, officials say, the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Rory A. Eaton, with the assistance of Litigation Paralegal Maria Ducca.
