An investigation is underway following a dramatic house explosion in Westfield on Tuesday morning that caused a significant blaze and led to a partial building collapse.Preliminary information indicated that firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Tudor Oval shortly before 10:25 p.m. after reports emerged of a fire inside a residence.
Upon arrival, emergency crews were met with a burning structure, which soon after erupted in a fierce explosion that resonated throughout the community.
The severity of the incident prompted officials to escalate their response, striking a second and then a third alarm to muster additional firefighting manpower.
Remarkably, no serious injuries have been reported as of 11 p.m.
The cause of the explosion remains undetermined, leaving authorities and local residents anxious for answers.
Firefighting teams from Westfield were swiftly supported by several Union County fire departments, which provided crucial assistance at the scene and helped with house coverage.
