A man was killed in East Orange overnight, prompting an investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
East Orange Police responded to reports of shots fired on South Munn Avenue last night.
Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified male suffering from bullet wounds.
Essex County Prosecutor’s Office officials confirmed that the man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
The shooter fled the scene and remains at large.
The identity of the victim is being withheld by county officials until further notice. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation into the shooting.
