UPDATE: Manchester Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Terrorism in Lakewood, Jackson Rampage

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Dion Marsh, 29, of Manchester, was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison without the possibility of parole for a series of violent incidents in Lakewood and Jackson on April 8, 2022.AdMarsh was convicted of terrorism and other charges following his guilty plea in January 2024.

The events began at 1:10 p.m. when a male victim was attacked on Arlington Avenue in Lakewood. By 1:15 p.m., Marsh had carjacked a vehicle in Lakewood.

Later that day, he struck a pedestrian with a vehicle on Kimball Road and attempted to abduct a minor near Carlton Avenue.

At 6:00 p.m., another pedestrian was hit by a car on Central Avenue, and at 6:55 p.m., Marsh stabbed a man near Pine Circle Drive.

The rampage continued into Jackson, where he struck a pedestrian at 8:20 p.m. using the carjacked vehicle.

Marsh was apprehended at his home by detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Manchester Township Police Department.

He faced multiple charges, including attempted murder, carjacking, and bias intimidation.

He was also federally charged with hate crimes and carjacking, resulting in a concurrent 40-year federal sentence.AdProsecutor Billhimer expressed hope that this lengthy sentence would deter bias and hate crimes, emphasizing that hate has no place in Ocean County.

He credited the swift apprehension and successful prosecution to the combined efforts of various law enforcement agencies.
