The New Jersey STEM Pathways Network (NJSPN) proudly announces its July I CAN STEM New Jersey Role Model, Ms. Ivory Williams, a distinguished Newark native and the Vice President of STEM Education at Liberty Science Center.Ad

Ivory Williams, a proud product of the Newark Board of Education, has dedicated her career to the advancement of STEM education. She has been someone that I've known and worked with for several years on the educational front.

As the Vice President of STEM Education at Liberty Science Center, Ivory defines and drives STEM programs' vision, strategic direction, and expansion.

Ivory Liberty Science Center officials say she leads seven teams committed to developing progressive, engaging, and impactful STEM programming while fostering high-level, sustainable partnerships with government agencies, school districts, charter schools, and educational organizations.

Ivory's role is pivotal, impacting hundreds of thousands of students and educators each year. Her leadership is crucial in enhancing the Science Center's STEM learning profile and extending its reach.

As a passionate advocate for STEM for all, Ivory's nearly two-decade-long career in science education is marked by significant achievements and contributions.

A valedictorian of University High School's Class of 1995, Ivory graduated Summa Cum Laude from the New Jersey Institute of Technology as an Albert Dorman Honors Student, earning a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering.

Her journey in education began as a Biology, Anatomy & Physiology teacher at Arts High School in Newark, NJ.

Stem She quickly distinguished herself, supporting her colleagues through peer coaching and professional development, which ignited her passion for adult learning and led her to become a Master Teacher.

As a Master Teacher, Ivory worked closely with educators to implement effective classroom management techniques and high-impact instructional strategies.

These experiences prepared her for her subsequent role as Special Assistant for Science, where she established a visionary framework for K-12 science education, developed curricula, and built strategic partnerships with informal STEM education organizations, such as Liberty Science Center.

In July 2019, Ivory transitioned to her current role at Liberty Science Center, where she continues to champion STEM education.

Her efforts are instrumental in advancing the quality of learning and life for educators, students, and families, making her an exemplary figure in the STEM community.

NJSPN's I CAN STEM initiative aims to increase the diversity of New Jersey's STEM workforce and academic pipelines by highlighting diverse role models.

Stem One role model is featured each month, representing people of color, LGBTQ+ community members, individuals with disabilities, and women in STEM fields. Ivory Williams' selection as a role model emphasizes her remarkable contributions and inspires students across the state.

Ivory Williams' remarkable journey from a Newark student to a leading figure in STEM education exemplifies the transformative power of dedication and education. The NJSPN is honored to celebrate her as a 2024 I CAN STEM Role Model, inspiring the next generation of diverse STEM leaders.
