Authorities in Newark seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in connection with an auto burglary that occurred between Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20.Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said the victim reported that he parked his vehicle in the 200 block of Prince Street at approximately 11 p.m. on July 19.
When he returned to his car the next day, he noticed that the driver’s side door was open and the middle console was opened with his property stolen, officials stated.
According to officials, the victim’s credit card was used at a store in the 500 block of Springfield Avenue before it was later declined during another attempted use.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect who used the victim’s credit card as a light-skinned male wearing a tan NY Yankees fitted cap with red lettering and a black brim, officials said.
Officials say he also wore a white T-shirt, black sweatpants, and gray and orange New Balance sneakers.Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
