NJ State Police officials are investigating an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on a highway in Hudson County on Monday.State Police said at approximately 2:26 p.m., troopers responded to a shooting complaint on the New Jersey Turnpike north at milepost 113, Interchange 17, on the ramp in Secaucus Township.
According to a preliminary investigation, an altercation took place between the victim and two male suspects while they were traveling in a white Nissan passenger vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike.
During the altercation, the victim, State Police officials said a 52-year-old man from Houston, TX, sustained a gunshot wound.
The Nissan then stopped on the left shoulder of the Interchange 17 ramp, where all occupants exited the vehicle.
The two male suspects began to physically assault the victim before re-entering their vehicle and fleeing the scene.
Following the assault, State Police officials said a good Samaritan assisted the victim by driving him to Paterson Plank Road in Secaucus Township, where they met with a Secaucus Police Department officer.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.
