A suspect is in custody following a double stabbing incident that occurred in Newark's North Ward on Thursday afternoon.
The attack, which took place inside Branch Brook Park, prompted a swift response from Essex County Sheriff Officers, who pursued the assailant on foot.
The chase took place after authorities were alerted to the stabbing of two individuals.
The suspect was apprehended while police conducted a thorough search of the area for the weapon used in the attack, which was reportedly discarded by the suspect during the chase.
According to initial reports, the victims of the stabbing were found separately, one near the intersection of Clifton Avenue and 6th Avenue and the other near 295 Orange Street.
