Slight Relief from Heatwave as North Jersey Cools Down Slightly

Newark and North Jersey residents can expect a slight dip in temperatures today, though it remains hot and humid as the persistent heat wave continues.AdEarly risers at 4:30 a.m. experienced some rain, but conditions are expected to clear up by rush hour.

The morning also brought brief lightning and thunder to some areas in North Jersey.  Currently, temperatures are at 76 degrees and are forecasted to rise near 90 degrees during the day.

Despite being hot, today's temperatures are somewhat cooler compared to the intense heat experienced over the past seven days.

The National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., followed by a mostly sunny day.AdCome Thursday night, the chance of showers and thunderstorms returns after 2 a.m., with partly cloudy skies and a low of around 73 degrees.

Residents are advised to stay cool and hydrated and to monitor the weather as intermittent showers and storms pass through the region.
