Newark and North Jersey residents are facing another day of extreme heat, with early morning temperatures already reaching a humid and uncomfortable 81 degrees at 4:30 a.m. 
The National Weather Service has issued both a heat advisory and an excessive heat warning for much of New Jersey, signaling potentially dangerous conditions.
Today, the forecast predicts a mostly sunny day with a high near 91 degrees.
However, heat index values could soar as high as 101 degrees, making it feel much hotter. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., there is also a chance of showers and thunderstorms, which could bring some temporary relief from the heat.
Tonight, the chance of showers and thunderstorms continues, with increasing clouds and a low of around 76 degrees.
Residents are urged to stay cool and exercise caution, especially those working outside or participating in outdoor activities.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity can lead to heat illnesses, and everyone is advised to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
