Residents in Newark and the broader North Jersey region are bracing for yet another sweltering day. Temperatures are forecasted to soar into the lower 90s, with heat index values potentially reaching 102 degrees.
The persistent heat wave continues to grip the area with high humidity and minimal signs of relief on the horizon.
As early as 4:30 a.m., temperatures were already recorded at 76 degrees in Newark, accompanied by some fog that could impact morning commutes, though no significant disruptions are expected.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the day, cautioning residents to take necessary precautions against the oppressive heat.
Today's weather is partly sunny, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after 2 p.m. While these might offer a brief respite, the relief from the heat will likely be limited.
Winds are expected to pick up slightly, moving from a light south breeze to 5 to 10 mph by the morning.
Tonight, there remains a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., which could cool the evening.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, seek shade, and use air conditioning to cope with the extreme temperatures.
Those working or spending extended periods outdoors should take regular breaks and be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion.
