East Orange police are currently handling an investigation into a violent stabbing incident that took place inside a building on Thursday morning.
Residents and surveillance cameras at the scene indicated that at approximately 1:29 a.m., police responded to a distress call at a multi-family building located at 105 Park Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found multiple victims suffering from serious stab wounds.
All of the injured were transported to University Hospital and remain in serious condition. Among the victims are an adult female and at least one child.
Family of the victims told RLS Media that a woman and her two children, approximately 7 months and 3 years old, were inside the apartment, but it is unclear if she shared the apartment with anyone else.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the incident is being handled by East Orange Police for now.
The motive for the stabbing is under active and ongoing investigation, with no reports of arrests at this time.
