Man Shot Dead on Park Avenue in Newark, ECPO Investigates

A man was fatally shot Tuesday night in Newark's North Ward, prompting an investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.SupportAccording to county officials, police were called to the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire near 294 Park Avenue just at Roseville Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Despite immediate CPR efforts by emergency responders, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later. Thomas Fennelly, Chief Assistant Prosecutor at the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, confirmed the death.

The area quickly became tense as a large crowd gathered, prompting police to secure and tape off the scene to maintain order. No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
