Eighteen People Displaced by Early Morning Fire in East Orange

 An early morning fire at a three-family home on Greenwood Avenue in East Orange has displaced 18 people.

City officials said The East Orange Fire Department (EOFD) responded to the blaze at 135 Greenwood Avenue at approximately 5:23 am.

Support With mutual assistance from Bloomfield firefighters, EOFD managed to bring the fire under control by 5:54 am.

Accoridng to city officials, firefighters from Orange and Irvington were also dispatched to East Orange to provide additional support.

Fortunately, all three families, totaling 18 people, were able to escape without injuries.

However, the home has been deemed uninhabitable.

The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced families by providing temporary shelter.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
