Firefighters in Newark responded to a fast-moving fire in a multi-family building in the South Ward early Saturday morning.The blaze, which engulfed an apartment, was reported around 12:30 a.m. at 15 Goldsmith Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire crews immediately deployed multiple lines to combat the flames shooting from the third-floor window of the six-story building.
Firefighters entered, assisting several residents to safety as the fire raged from the apartment windows.
Teams bravely entered the burning apartment, quickly dousing the flames and conducting a thorough search for any trapped or injured occupants.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the conclusion of the operation.
The fire was successfully brought under control shortly before 1 a.m.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze and working to determine its origins.
