Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers have announced an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning in Irvington Township.
At approximately 1:22 a.m., Irvington police officers responded to reports of shots fired at a building in the 300 block of 21st Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim near the entrance of the building suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Quashawn Moses of East Orange, was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 am.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, including detectives from the Irvington Police Department, is actively investigating the incident.
