Authorities in Bergen County are investigating a police-involved shooting that killed a 24-year-old man this afternoon in Hackensack.
The shooting occurred at 10 Temple Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to police.
According to initial reports, three police officers responded to that location for a probation check.
Upon arrival, 24-year-old Elvin Diaz allegedly pulled a knife on the responding officers causing officers to fire several shots.
Two of three officers and Diaz were taken to Hackensack University Medical Hospital.
Diaz was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m.
The Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli tweeted that he doesn’t believe the officers were injured. However, no information was provided as to why they were transported to the hospital.
