UPDATE: Man Killed in Shooting in Newark’s Central Ward; Another Wounded

According to a statement released by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Newark on Tuesday, June 4.AdAt approximately 9:30 p.m., Newark officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Orange Avenue following reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to University Hospital.

One of the victims, identified as Mr. Ty’Shon Young, 27, of Newark, was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m.

Prosecutor Stephens said, the second victim, a 25-year-old male, remains hospitalized.

The incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.AdThe investigation is active and ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
