Newark's Shooting Response Team was called to the scene of a gunfire incident early Saturday morning in the North Ward.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near 25 Chester Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found shell casings but were unable to locate any victims after thoroughly canvassing the neighborhood.
The Newark Police Department is actively trying to determine the motive behind the shooting while searching for the suspect who fled the scene.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist with the case.
