Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that Grace Stewart, a Rutgers University Police Officer, has been charged with one count of third degree theft for stealing $30,000 from the Rutgers Fraternal Order of Police, Local 62, account over a three-month period.
Stewart, 34, of Roselle is scheduled for arraignment on June 2 before the Honorable Michael L. Ravin, Judge of the Superior Court. Stewart was treasurer for the FOP.
In that capacity she had access to the FOP debit card. Another officer noticed money missing and an investigation was done resulting in the charge.
These are accusations. All defendants are innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
