NWS: Memorial Day Rain Expected to End Newark's Pleasant Weekend

This Memorial Day Monday, Newark wakes up to a cool 67 degrees as the city honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.Real EstateThe day starts a bit foggy in parts of North Jersey. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted to move into the region by evening, closing out an otherwise beautiful weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance of showers will increase throughout the day, with likely showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m.

Areas of dense fog will persist before clearing around 11 a.m. Despite the clouds, temperatures are expected to reach a high near 74 degrees, with a southeast wind of 8 to 14 mph.

The chance of precipitation stands at 60%.

For Monday night, NWS meteorologists said the area will see continued showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, followed by a chance of lighter showers until 3 a.m., with lows around 66 degrees.
