Police in Newark's West Ward responded to a shooting Friday evening after a ShotSpotter device alerted them of gunfire.
The incident occurred around 10:25 p.m. on Halsted Street in the Vailsburg section of the city.
Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple shell casings at the scene. Despite a thorough canvassing of the location, no injuries have been reported.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation and the suspect involved has fled the scene and remains at large.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are seeking any information that could lead to the suspect's apprehension.
