The East Orange School District proudly hosted a cultural and STEM exchange day with East Orange STEM Academy and Busan Science High from South Korea, a distinguished magnet high school renowned for its focus on STEM education.On Friday, May 10th, the event brought together 90 students and ten teachers from Busan Science High with the 10th through 12th-grade students and staff of East Orange STEM Academy.
The day was filled with immersive activities designed to expand students' perspectives and spark their curiosity.
"We are excited to welcome our international guests and provide them with engaging and enriching experiences during their visit," said Dr. Vincent Stallings, Principal of East Orange STEM Academy.
Students from both schools collaborated on STEM and American cultural projects.
Each group of East Orange STEM Academy students was paired with ten students from Busan Science High and a STEM Academy Student Ambassador, creating a vibrant atmosphere for learning and innovation.
Yumi Choi, representing Busan Science High, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration during the planning phase, stating,
"I am impressed by the impact of STEM education at East Orange STEM Academy. We are excited about the prospect of collaborating with your team to create a mutually beneficial project."
This exchange provided a unique opportunity for students to engage in cross-cultural learning experiences, share ideas, and build meaningful connections that transcend geographical boundaries.
