The Hudson County SWAT team is currently assisting Harrison Police in a standoff involving a person barricaded inside a hotel room at the Hampton Inn Hotel and Suites on Passaic Avenue.
The incident began just before 2:30 p.m. when police surrounded the hotel after a male suspect barricaded himself in one of the rooms and refused to come out.
Details about the circumstances leading to the standoff have not been released.
Police attempted to negotiate with the suspect for several hours before calling in the Hudson County SWAT team. It is not clear if the suspect is armed or has hostages.
The hotel has been evacuated and no one is allowed inside the premises during the standoff.
Police have not disclosed the reason for the standoff, but we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
