Two women were rushed to University Hospital in Newark for trauma treatment after being involved in a crash on an interstate in Union County early Saturday morning.The incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-78 in Springfield Township.
According to preliminary reports, NJ State Troopers, EMS, and firefighters arrived on the scene to extricate the women, who were trapped inside their vehicle following a collision with another car.
The pair reportedly suffered head and facial injuries before being taken to the Essex County Hospital.
A witness pulled over to assist the occupants and dialed 911 for emergency responders. Witnesses reported that the driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene after the crash.The police have not yet provided an update on the victims' condition. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
