Following a mild Mother's Day that began with rain but ended with evening sunshine, residents of Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to cooler temperatures this Monday morning. Some areas, particularly in Bergen and Passaic counties, are experiencing patchy fog this morning, but it is expected to clear as the day progresses.

According to the National Weather Service, today's weather will be mostly sunny, with a high nearing 72 degrees.

A light southwest wind will pick up, increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning, providing a gentle breeze throughout the day.

Tonight, the skies will remain partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to a low of around 54 degrees. The south wind will continue, blowing at a steady 6 to 9 mph.

Residents can look forward to a pleasant start to the week, with ideal conditions for enjoying outdoor activities or getting back to the weekly routine.
