Detectives were on the scene of a shooting in Newark's North Ward that occurred Thursday evening, triggered by a ShotSpotter device.Gunfire was detected before 6:35 p.m. on the single-digit block of Grafton Avenue.
Upon arrival, Newark police discovered shell casings, confirming evidence of a shooting. Despite searches around the Riverside Court housing development, no victims have been located.
The circumstances leading to the gunfire are still unclear, and the incident remains under active investigation.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.Authorities are continuing to gather information and urging anyone knowledgeable about the incident to come forward.
