NWS: Rainy Friday Dampens Newark, North Jersey Region

After enjoying a stretch of beautiful weather this week, Newark and the North Jersey region residents are waking up to a significantly wetter Friday.AdSteady rain and cool temperatures are setting the tone for the day, with the mercury struggling to climb out of the low 50s.

The National Weather Service reported that a steady temperature of around 51 degrees will accompany an east wind at about 11 mph, gusting up to 22 mph.

The chance of precipitation is high at 90%, with new rainfall expected to measure between a quarter and a half an inch. Residents will undoubtedly need to keep umbrellas handy and wear warm jackets as they navigate the dreary conditions.

NWS forecasters say the rain is expected to persist into the late afternoon and part of the evening before conditions start to improve.AdFriday night, we will see a 40 percent chance of showers before 2 a.m., followed by a gradual clearing with lows settling around 46 degrees.
