ConSup North America Inc., based in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, has issued a recall for approximately 85,984 pounds of ready-to-eat sliced prosciutto ham.
The product, originating from Germany, is being recalled due to a lack of proper inspection, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The recall involves prosciutto ham produced between September 25, 2023, and March 6, 2024.
The specific product under recall is the 5.29-ounce plastic packages labeled “Stockmeyer PROSCIUTTO Product of GERMANY,” which are identified by lot codes 09118-3A, 09118-3B, 09120-3A, 09120-3B, 13133-3A, 13133-3B, 13104-3A, 13104-3B, 13105-3A, 13105-3B, 13109-3A, and 13109-3B. The packages also feature "BEST BEFORE:" dates from April 28, 2024, to October 7, 2024.
USDA officials said the product has been distributed across various states, including California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
The recall was initiated after the FSIS was alerted by Germany’s Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety that H. Klümper GmbH & Co. KG, the German producer, exported a portion of these lots to the U.S. without the necessary inspection equivalent.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.
However, consumers who have purchased these products are urged to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
