Newark and Northern Jersey residents felt the chill this morning, with temperatures starting off at a brisk 45 degrees.As you step outside, you won't need an umbrella today, but grab a coat, as the National Weather Service is currently issuing a freeze warning for parts of the region.
Despite the cold start, the day will gradually warm up, reaching a high near 56 degrees under sunny skies.
Winds will shift from north at 6 to 10 mph to southeast in the afternoon, which might bring a slight increase in temperature.
However, the warmth will be short-lived. Tonight promises clear skies and a low of around 40 degrees.The National Weather Service advises residents to keep warm and take precautions against the cold, especially in the early hours and late evening.
