Paterson Police are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting incident near Joseph A. Taub School on Tuesday morning.
Authorities were alerted to the situation after receiving reports of gunfire around 8:40 a.m. in the 200 block of Union Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered shell casings at the scene but found no evidence of injuries after a thorough neighborhood canvass.
The investigation suggests the gunfire may have originated from an attempted armed robbery, during which the suspect reportedly shot at a victim before fleeing in a light-colored Honda with tinted windows.
As a precaution, police and school officials promptly enacted a lockdown at Joseph A. Taub School to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The suspect is currently at large, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing search.
