Newark and the North Jersey region residents can expect a picturesque start to their Sunday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 70 degrees.Gentle breezes from the south, blowing at 8 to 16 mph with potential gusts up to 29 mph, will accompany the pleasant morning and afternoon.
However, the serene weather is set to shift by evening. The National Weather Service is tracking storms likely to roll in later today, bringing gusty winds and the possibility of thunderstorms.
The transition begins with a slight chance of showers before 9 p.m., escalating to a more likely occurrence of showers and thunderstorms between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Nighttime conditions will turn mostly cloudy with a low of around 54 degrees and winds shifting from southwest to west after midnight, gusting as high as 28 mph.
With a 40% chance of precipitation tonight, residents are advised to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts and prepare for a potentially stormy end to the day.
