Newark Police officials are calling on the public to help locate Ms. Carissa M. Huggins, a 32-year-old resident of East Orange, who is wanted for questioning related to a shooting that unfolded on the night of April 1. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from the police to University Hospital following reports of a man seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
According to the victim's account, he was walking west on Springfield Avenue when a black SUV pulled up nearby, and a passenger inside the vehicle commenced firing in his direction.
In a frantic escape from the scene, the victim was fortunate enough to receive a ride to University Hospital from a passing driver, where he is currently recovering and listed in stable condition.
The victim, however, could not pinpoint the exact location of the shooting.
Newark detectives have identified Carissa Huggins as a person of interest who may hold vital information regarding the shooting.Director Fragé is leading the appeal to the community for assistance in locating Huggins, emphasizing the crucial role public collaboration plays in resolving such cases.
Authorities urge anyone with knowledge of Carissa Huggins' whereabouts or any information that might contribute to the investigation to come forward.
