Newark Police are calling on the public to aid in locating 28-year-old Mr. Derrick Efford, who is sought for questioning related to a robbery investigation from early February.The incident, which occured on Sunday, February 11, 2024, involved a victim being forcibly stopped and robbed by two suspects.
According to reports, the event took place around 5:30 a.m. when a man was confronted by two Hispanic males.
Police said the assailants brandished a handgun, demanding the victim to halt. They proceeded to rob him of his wallet, which contained $500 in cash, a debit card, and other personal items.
Before fleeing the scene, Newark Police said the suspects also took the victim's cell phone, destroying it by smashing it on the ground.
The pair was last seen entering a red 4-door vehicle on Polk Street, heading towards Ferry Street, and driving westbound towards Newark Penn Station. In the wake of the robbery, Newark Police identified Efford as a person of interest whom they wish to question in connection with the case.
Director Fragé has issued an appeal to the community, urging anyone with information regarding Efford's whereabouts to come forward.
