Hudson County authorities have apprehended two individuals linked to a distressing episode of violence that shook the Jersey City community earlier this month.Prosecutor Esther Suarez said the arrests stem from a thorough investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit following a triple shooting that took place on March 9, 2024.
The first suspect, identified as 36-year-old Joseph Del Valle from Hoboken, was apprehended on Tuesday.
Del Valle's capture occurred at a location on Summit Avenue in Jersey City, marking a pivotal moment in the case.
Following his arrest, he was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he awaits his initial court proceeding.
In a related development, Francisco Salcedo, 42, of Jersey City, was also arrested in connection with the incident.
Salcedo was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus on March 11. A subsequent court ruling favored the State’s request for the detention of the involved parties.
The incident that led to these arrests unfolded in the early hours of March 9, when the Jersey City Police Department received reports of gunfire on Jordan Avenue.Upon arrival, officers discovered a crime scene strategically located between Mercer Street and Vroom Street.
The immediate aftermath saw three individuals seeking medical attention at the Jersey City Medical Center for injuries sustained during the incident. Among the victims was Christoph Terrero Marte, a 33-year-old resident of Jersey City, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The other two victims, men aged 28 and 31 from Union City and Jersey City, respectively, received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
This incident has cast a shadow over the community, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety and the prevalence of illegal weapons.
