This afternoon, a man from Roselle lost his life in a motor vehicle accident in Linden while riding an electric scooter.
Just after 2:30 p.m., police officers were called to the scene at the intersection of N. Wood Avenue & Gibbons Street following reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle and an electric scooter.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim trapped under the vehicle.
The Linden Fire Department swiftly intervened, lifting the vehicle to extricate the victim.
Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead a short time later at RWJBH Rahway Hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was heading south on N. Wood Ave and was attempting a left turn onto E. Gibbons St when it collided with the victim.
The victim was reportedly riding an electric scooter southbound in the northbound lanes at the time of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash did not sustain any injuries.
N. Wood Avenue was temporarily closed for investigation but has since been reopened. The Linden Police Traffic Bureau is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
