Newark officials are investigating a fire that devastated two residential buildings earlier today.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé reported that firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 12:24 p.m., following reports of a fire at a 2-1/2 story home located at 317 Leslie Street.
Upon arrival, firefighting teams worked diligently, deploying several hoses to combat the intense flames engulfing the property.
Director Frage said the situation escalated, prompting officials to issue a 2nd alarm as the fire spread to a neighboring building at 319 Leslie Street.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the firefighters' efforts paid off, and the blaze was successfully brought under control by 1:39 p.m.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and further details will be shared as they become available.
