As the calendar turns to mark the beginning of spring, residents of Newark and the broader North Jersey area are experiencing a notably chilly morning.At 4:40 a.m., temperatures were recorded at a brisk 35 degrees, but with the wind chill, it feels more like 28 degrees.
Despite the frosty start, spring officially arrives tonight at 11:06 p.m. Although the current temperatures may not seem indicative of the season's change, they are actually in line with average conditions for this time of year in the region.
The National Weather Service predicted that today will remain breezy, with a mostly sunny sky and a high near 48 degrees.
Wind speeds are forecasted to be between 10 to 14 mph, with gusts reaching up to 24 mph.
According to NWS forecasters, the weather will shift to cloudy tonight before gradually clearing up, with temperatures dipping to a low of around 38 degrees.
While today remains dry, residents should be prepared for different conditions tomorrow. Enjoy your day, and the official start of spring is this evening!
