On Saturday, March 16th, Kearny responded to a catastrophic motor vehicle crash on County Road 508 in Kearny, resulting in one fatality and multiple serious injuries.The Kearny Police Department, alongside Officer Pawlowski of the Traffic Unit, was swiftly alerted to the scene following reports of a trapped motorists and potential severe casualties at approximately 7 a.m.
Upon arrival, first responders were met with a five-vehicle pile-up, including one vehicle that had rolled over.
In the chaotic scene, police said a male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while several others suffered serious bodily harm.
The precise number of injured parties and the full extent of their injuries remain under careful evaluation.
The Kearny Police Department's Traffic Unit, in collaboration with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Regional Fatal Collision Unit, has taken the lead on this ongoing investigation.Authorities are meticulously working to piece together the events leading up to the crash, though no motor vehicle summonses have been issued thus far.
