An Orange Police officer is currently recovering from surgery after a severe attack early Saturday morning, March 16, 2024, left him with serious injuries.The incident occurred while responding to a domestic violence call at a residence on Ogden Street around 3 a.m.
RLS Media learned that during the investigation, a male subject, identified as the boyfriend of the caller, became irate and assaulted the officer with a blunt-force object/bat.
The attack escalated when the suspect repeatedly struck the officer multiple times with the object before running him over with a vehicle.
RLS Media has confirmed that the unidentified officer suffered significant injuries from the incident, including facia/head fractures, a broken arm, and a broken leg.
He was promptly taken to University Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in serious condition. However, he is expected to make a recovery.
The suspect has been taken into custody and faces charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, among several others.
The situation is still under an active and ongoing investigation.
Despite the violent confrontation, it has been confirmed that the officer did not discharge his weapon during the incident.
