Newark authorities are on the search for suspects involved in a shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday night in a neighborhood near 49 2nd Street.
The incident, reported around 11:50 p.m., was brought to the attention of police by an activated ShotSpotter device, which alerted officers of gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, police gathered ballistic evidence and interviewed witnesses who reported seeing a gray SUV firing shots before fleeing the scene at high speed.
Despite a thorough search of the vicinity, no victims were immediately found.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation as authorities work to apprehend the suspects, who are currently at large.
Residents are urged to report any relevant information that may assist the ongoing investigation.
