Passaic County officials reported that a tragic motor vehicle collision occurred Wednesday at around 2:00 p.m. on Route 46 East near the Union Boulevard Exit in Totowa. Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said the incident involved a 2014 Acura MDX, driven by a 22-year-old male, and a 2008 Yamaha R6 motorcycle with two 19-year-old males aboard.
The collision resulted in both occupants of the motorcycle being urgently transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson. Despite medical efforts, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The passenger, however, was admitted in stable condition and is currently receiving care.
Prosecutor Valdes said the individual driving the Acura MDX reportedly did not suffer any injuries during the incident.As the investigation continues, authorities have described it as active and ongoing, with further details to be shared as they emerge.
The circumstances surrounding the collision have prompted the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to reach out to the public for additional information.
